Trip Summary (email re-cap)

Friends and Family,

Thank you so much for all of your prayers and support as I traveled to Haiti! I arrived home safe, healthy, and grateful for your prayers. My return to Haiti felt like a bit of a homecoming as Momma (the woman who runs the orphanage) met us in the airport and made sure no one bothered her "babies." We were mobbed by the kids as we drove up to the orphanage and the week was like spending time with family.

A few highlights included
-using a French coloring book to tell the story of Jesus' birth
-English lessons with books
-giving the girls pedicures
-the HUGE fundraiser party the orphanage throws...it lasts until sunrise (it's not safe to walk home in the dark)
-bringing in the New Years as the kids prayed and sang worship songs at 1 am on January 1
-learning to cut open coconuts with a machete (by a12 year old, and I suck!)
-using beads and strings to teach the kids about salvation
-spending time learning from and encouraging Momma...seeing more of the incredible woman she is and the faith she has
-lots of dance parties with the kids :)

This is just a bit of a recap but needless to say t it was a wonderful time. When I look at the kids and Momma I truly feel that God can use them to be leaders and agents of change. I can't explain it but amidst the dangers of a cholera epidemic, and impending political rioting there is most certainly hope in Haiti.

Thank you for again for your encouragement and prayers, it truly meant so much to me and God greatly blessed my time in Haiti. I hope you have a wonderful start to your new year!
