Haiti: Journal Entry #1

**Taken directly from my journal during the month of June. I recorded dates & times for my entries so I'm going to post them accordingly**

Flew to Atlanta last night & spent the night in a homeless shelter with our team of 50.

Such big hearts.

Spoke with a guy named Burke who explained it well by sharing a conversation with his Dad whose response to his desire to go to Haiti was: So, you're saying you're willing to pay money to go and help people for a month? (Burke primarily paid for the trip himself by working an extra shifts, he didn't want to ask for money).

So many different stories for how we each got here. But, God has called each of us to Haiti and it is so awesome to finally meet all of those He has ordained for this purpose.

One of the team members, Ron, is Haitian - the first in his family to be born in the U.S. His parents moved here in '82 with no desire to ever return to Haiti. This will be his first time in the country.

We're finally about to board the last leg of our travel day - Miami to Port-au-Prince. Mostly can't believe that this m oment is almost here. No expectations except to expect to unexpected....
