Haiti: Journal Entry #3

We're still in transition. It's a strange feeling being here, but in this "house". I know most of us are eager & anxious to get going but as Robby pointed out to the group this morning, we should stay focused not so much on what we can do for God here in Haiti but on who we are in Him.

It is hard to rest and wait.

I love the people I've met so far. Tiffany is from L.A., Sammy Jo Wisconsin, Ashley, AMy, Emily, Robby, Kellen, Burke and Heather (our team leader), make up the rest of my team. We're supposed to be taking a "TapTap" at 2pm to head to our ministry site. These are the scriptures God's given me to meditate on today:

Isaiah 61:2
The spirit of the soverien Lord is
on me,
because the Lord has annointed me
to preach the good news to the poor.

He has sent me to bind up the
brokenhearted,
to proclaim the year of the Lord's favor
and the day of vengeance of our God
to comfort all who mourn,
and provide for those who grieve.

Jeremiah 33:37-41
I will bring them back to this place and let them live in safety. They will be my people, and I will be their God. I will give them singleness of heart and action, so that they will always fear me for their own good and the good of their children after them. I will make an everlasting covenant with them. I will never stop doing good to them, and I will inspire them to fear me, so that they will never turn away from me. I will rejoice in doing them good and will assuredly plant them in this land with all my heart and soul.
